The Snowman is a tradition here in Finland as well but it airs in the midday just before the announcement of Christmas Peace[1] (which is aired live every year from Turku and watching that as well is a tradition for some). Quite many Finnish (metal) bands have been covering Snowman song as well but they don't sound as good as the original, though. One example is the cover by Nightwish [2].
