Very kind of you to offer. Its been a gradual process from me, my heavy drinking started 30+ years ago.
Only puzzle left to solve is how to turn my brain off during mega work hectic/busy times. So far that has almost involved booze or effectively no sleep as my brain continues to work on work issues whilst I'm trying to get to sleep.
I consistently drank 4-6 cups of wine/beer per day for ~5 years.
A few major ways it changed my life:
1. I suddenly lost weight! Drinking calories makes it difficult to stay healthy. My friends and family noticed my weight loss before I told them about my sobriety.
2. I make better decisions in group settings. I no longer stay at social gatherings where I'm bored while sober, and I don't embarrass myself nearly as often.
3. Sobriety adds an extra 1-3 hours to my days. It's unsurprising that a CNS depressant sapped my motivation and energy!
