This reminds me of some internet comment during the first lockdown. Paraphrasing :

"This is also life, not just something you have to wait through before it begins"

A lot of people will wait their entire lives for the perfect circumstances, while an imperfect start years ago would have taken them further.

That being said, the author could use a break. That's a lot to do at once, especially when you announce it to others. I prefer to give myself as more space for random impulses, so I'm more conservative in my commitments.
