When did Amazon ever claim to offer one year? The initial announcement of it was one month of free prime (http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2011/09/amazon/).

If your LCD is defective, contact Amazon and they will take care of it - that's what the warranty is for :)

Yes, I have contacted Amazon. However, the device does not look like it was damaged in shipping, it looks like it is a manufacturing error.

Amazon is not gaining any points from this, at any rate.
