Thanks for reading my other comment. Yes, I removed it. It could have become a heated topic and I did not want to start such a discussion. Sorry if it got deleted while you were replying. I agree with your thoughts. It is very important to understand context when offering parental advice (and especially judgement), just as it is important to understand what our kids do with technology. In my opinion, a lot of bad parenting stems from not bothering to spend time and engage with one's children enough. That is why I don't engage in debates about quick fixes in parenting anymore. I think that the entire idea that off-the-shelf parenting advice works for complex problems is a bit toxic. |
