Indeed. In my view making informed trade-offs, communicating with stakeholders, and tracking down bugs based on limited information are hugely important job duties, and are entirely untouched by GPT3. People have decried “no code” and “low code” in the same way, but I see tons of job postings for people wanting an expert to drive or refactor these systems for them. At worst, GPT3 will be a tool that aids programmers, it won’t replace them. |
