The very fact that Emacs is so ancient makes me feel comfortable investing in it. If I extend and reconfigure it heavily, my setup will probably be usable for the rest of my life. Emacs will always be around. Meanwhile, VSCode will be replaced by some new hotness in a few years, and anyone who invests heavily in the perfect VSCode setup will lose all their work. |
