That is a beautiful story. I am sorry to hear of your friend. Reflecting on my own life- many art teachers I have come into contact with through public school and a few classes have been really special and kind people. Like they are a teaching art class as a physical placeholder but what they really are is someone who gives you a break from life and a place to think about things and encourage you.
