It costs that much only in the USA, not everywhere.

In many parts of the world, it's either way less expensive, or even covered by health insurance (at least a few tries).

It is similarly expensive in various other countries where it isn't always covered, and meanwhile is also covered in some states in the US.

Costs a good $10k in Sweden and Denmark as well. Don't know about the rest of Europe.

Japan was $4k or so, but we had to pay only like $200 per attempt if it didn’t succeed.
