The restaurant industry has been completely wrecked. Maybe pick up a line-cook or other back of house gig. Since it’s fairly easy work to pick up, you can shop around a bit. You might not even need to give them a resume, just ask to talk to a manager and tell them you’re looking to pick some kitchen work up. There are places that’ll just toss you an apron. It can be a pretty hard job at times but there is a lot of bonding and some have a great atmosphere that will feel like family after a while. Just an idea, you’ll get some life skills and free food. Food trucks are actually kind of a neat middle ground and the hours could be easier on your schedule if you tell them you can only work weekends and some dinners. It’ll be very tight inside so guaranteed bonding over a scorching hot summer. You’ll work with young people still in the friend making frame of mind. |
