Well, the immediate associates is generally public info. It's the "final human owner" that gets blurry if you have a chain of companies.

This is not necessarily surprising. The states no longer need the public. As long as they have access to the info, they find public access irrelevant.

Democracy is, imho, not a thing anymore. We are under ultimate statism.

why would it get blurry, if the owner of a company is available then it would be available all the way up the tree of ownership
It's blurry because it crosses state boundaries into random countries which don't make this available.
Was was democracy a thing in the past?
