So this is why all the servers are written in stuff like PHP, JavaScript, Ruby, etc. The server and the client UI are the same thing.

There is not yet a good standalone ActivityPub client.

The fediverse is not a push-pull system, if you aren't hosting your content then it doesn't exist. A standalone client would fail to serve your messages when you close it, defeating the point.
