Wherever you land, one bit of advice I've heard which I very much agree with is this: avoid involving yourself in the local politics for 2-3 years minimum. Remember the locals like the way things are, and they got that way because of, not in spite of, the local political views. Better to live there a bit and absorb and, ideally, integrate with the political climate. Not saying they're perfect, but they are unique and deserve a fair shake. |
