No need to put it in the passive voice (unless you for some reason want to obscure who was actually performing the action). Trump lied to everyone about Trump, and Trump lied and continues to lie about the results of the election, and Trump called for a violent insurrection and attack on the US Capitol. No evidence of that, this is one example of which they lied to you about.
Politicians lie to peasants, they scare them to try to get to power. They have already forgotten their lies and are manufacturing new lies to dupe you in the future. Maybe you believed it too much and made it a part of you that you presented to the world... so you feel the need to defend their lies... which they themselves will not care about as soon as they have newer lies to tell you. They know this very well, in fact they bank on it.
Again, you were duped once, like millions of people on both sides are at all times. You can let it go.
