"Parent -> Guardian" or "adoptive parent -> parent" hardly matter because there's very little chance of being surprised by the change, the terms are nearly equivalent and the differences are unimportant in almost all contexts. In contrast the differences between "man" and "woman" are stark and matter in all kinds of contexts. |
