The court being apolitical is a straw man argument. It spent 40 years making progressive rulings and only now that it’s ruling against those it’s become “political.” The courts political, always has been, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Checks and balances also tend to work, it’s just the positions you hold aren’t a long held majority so the system is designed to prevent the passing of them. Things like abortion that are majority opinions, as you see, result in actual debates that become compromised legislation. If you want change stop focusing on the president to create laws and the court to uphold them when it’s congress who is the one doing nothing and pushing blame here. |
