Holy shit, this is very similar to what my mom went through. One day she heard a very loud bang that she described as sounding like it was coming from inside her head. Shortly after she started getting dizzy spells, specially when getting up in the morning and when lying down to sleep at night. Every once in a while her left arm would go numb and she would lose strength in it. She went to many doctors and it was the same story, they thought it was vertigo. Thankfully she found a better one who requested a brain CT scan which showed that she actually had had a mild ischemic stroke on the right side of her brain.
