It's actually the opposite from my experience. It's very easy to get asked to work late (getting asked "hey, can you look at the build blocker?" towards the end of the day) compared to being asked to work early (barring having to acomodate any meetings with time zone differences). It's just an anecdote, but I've never once been asked to work early in my software development career. |

Being asked to work late _on top of_ having started the day in the morning is hardly the opposite of what the OP is arguing about.
