Ask HN: How browser products achieve PMF?
3 points by midspectrum 1330 days ago
Google Chrome/Safari is an excellent browser for browsing and I've been using it for about 10+ years now.

I'm more curious to understand if there is an actual need for new browsers that Chrome/Safari are not able to provide or if it's just a TAM game where the focus of upcoming browser products is to cater to a specific audience.

Would love to know what's the thought behind coming up with a new browser product.

Is PMF product-market-fit? What is TAM?
Yes PMF means Product Market Fit and TAM stands for - Total Addressable Market. Here's a quick link to read more:

There are efforts to build a secure enterprise browser

Check out Talon

I completely understand the effort of building a secure enterprise browser but is there a need in the market and is the market big enough that it is a sustainable business? How will a browser replace existing user habits in the long run?

IMHO, the missing piece is to figure out how to turn a browser to replace the existing browser in a user's system and ensures the end user never turns back to the old one after using the new one.
