The average person hasn't even put on a VR set and most of those who have don't have one laying around. Only a small dedicated amount of people use Virtual Reality and it;s mostly for gaming. Investing so much into Oculus and later on Horizon Worlds to somehow reinvent how we interact socially is idiotic.

Yeah there are very few smartphone users in 2006
Do you consider Blackberry phones as smart phones? If so, they were numerous and everyone had one years before the iPhone launched.
I count Blackberry. Still Quest2 sold over 20M, that seems to similar sales to Blackberry in 2006.
Everyone I know had a Blackberry. No one I know has a Quest2.
So you're in such bubble. Maybe BB was primary sold for NA businessman.
I had one in college while working a minimum wage job. So did all my college friends.
