Switched from proton to fastmail in 2019, mostly because I wanted to use apple mail. The encryption and swiss hosting of proton is definitely a plus, but when most of the email I send goes to gmail, that doesn’t really matter.

You can now use Apple Mail with Proton via their Mail Bridge app.
