What do you mean by useless? Does it completely not work when not connected to the cloud or you just loose sync between devices feature?

I don’t use cloud and find it perfectly usable without it.

I think there’s also a way to setup private cloud.

I use a RM2 every day. I don't pay for the subscription. After they emailed me that my free trial was ending, I just turned it off, because I didn't use any of the subscription features
