This very much resonates with me and I find it ridiculously frustrating about myself. I can more easily deliver well-received work at the last minute than I can a steady pace of work that would be sometimes higher quality because of the opportunity to put it down for a few days and then review and improve at a more leisurely pace. But the procrastination monkey inside skips most of the chances to do the latter. Ironically, not having a deadline at all has given me a chance to deliver some of my best work (or work I’m most proud of), but I can also understand why a world with no time commitments wouldn’t actually work globally better. |
