Feels like the moment to mention 'Strange Code' - https://nostarch.com/strange-code by Ronald T. Kneusel (no relation or affiliation, I just like the book). You're never going to build your next major project in one of them (unless you happen to be a COBOL developer or happen to maintain OpenFirmware boot code written in Forth) but seeing different ways of doing things is both interesting and instructive. |
