> I get that there are some use cases where performance really matters to the point where kernel network stack and drivers make a difference (high-throughput and/or low-latency services running on servers, high-performance routers...), but that should not be the default for everyone. I’m on board so long as there is a choice. Routers with crappy hardware need as much help as possible. Also tangentially this is why the current darling of VPN tech, WireGuard, is implemented in kernel not userspace. |
