I think AWS is shooting themselves in the foot with their ridiculous EKS offering. The fact that it is necessary to first download a 3rd party tool (eksctl) to get anything working is insane. Then, getting basic things working like connecting a load balancer involves importing all kinds of random policies and configuration (which does who knows what) from random github repositories is perhaps even more ridiculous. The same thing in GCP takes nearly zero effort. I can understand why AWS would try to steer people away from Kubernetes since it has a commoditizing effect. However, it could end up steering people away from AWS entirely. |
