Carrier-wifi is a way for mobile operators to use local Wi-Fi networks operated by the same mobile operator, if it offers a better connectivity.

As said in the video, there is no need to enter a Wi-Fi password as from the user point of view this is still a mobile phone communication.

I remember there were hot debates at IEEE 802.11 10 years ago because they saw this operator proposal as a way to render traditional Wi-Fi business obsolete.
