Wayland is starting to be enjoyable for me, but the road leading here has been extremely painful and paved by top-down mistakes that have slowly yielded us a usable protocol. I like 1:1 trackpad gestures and V-Sync, but was it worth breaking screen recording, GUI libraries, RDP and hundreds of desktop environments? It's hard to say, but the fact that it took us 10 years to get halfway there causes me concern. |
