Did it even achieve that? People do make choices to support companies that hold their values, sometimes at a personal cost. You may pay more for an item made under ethical practices with respect to people, animals, or the environment. You may even simply choose it because you like their attitude. The Penzey's spice company, for example, does quite well despite deliberately excluding anyone who would be offended by their motto "season liberally". (The double entendre is deliberate.) But they also make a very good product. So... Did these guys even achieve a conservative political end? Or were they simply hoping to get customers by pandering and deliver subpar service? |
