This smells of "old, entrenched interests fighting against a disruptive innovation". Remote work is the future for the tech industry. Whether or not the current generation of leaders want to believe it is immaterial. We've proven that it works, and that many people prefer it.

- Someone who works remotely and will never live in an urban pod, or waste my time on a commute, ever again.

I hope not. Because this also means that ten years from now (or less) someone in India, or any number of cities, will be able to do my job from there. I'm an advocate of a mix of the 2.

I suspect that it's too late. CEO's all over the place are working on outsourcing more tech jobs now that they know it's absolutely possible.

Funny how, in this case, the entrenched interests are people who have reputations as disruptors ...
