My system is connected to the internet - but it only transmits small amounts of data out for reporting. It shouldn't be hard to harden their code to prevent hacks. If the local software is just making outbound connections and talking (no inbound connections or listening) it would be a pretty tricky entry point for a hacker. You could also connect it to a guest wifi network. The data it provides is rather useful as you can see the efficiency of each panel - useful to know when they need a cleaning :) btw, my panel disconnected from wifi for a month and nobody said anything. |
