Re the finite nature of libido: this seems to be a non-issue. Men chained to a sexless marriage have no other sanctioned outlet. Unmarried and younger, well, no one says you need to play sports, you can watch them on TV too. Probably the actual social issue is when people trained on porn meet others in real life and have stilted expectations. But there's no socially acceptable way for guys to learn about sex when they're peaking in libido (ages 16-19) so what do you expect? Sex education is more about prevention than how to do it. If we taught phys ed like we taught sex ed, it'd all be about how to wrap twisted ankles and adjust helmet straps. In the same way that there's no requirement for anybody to accept sexual overtures from anyone else, there's no requirement for anyone to make them. Telling people they have no right to sex, and no right to take care of their libido, is just cruel. |
