Whenever I read something like this I am wondering if there was still some TV without any of these „smart“ features. Just a screen and the receiver for television. Then I can connect an Apple TV, Xbox, PlayStation or whatever. Isn’t there a demand for that? I mean I don’t need another device which breaks or is unsafe to use after 2 years because it doesn’t get any more updates.

I have 2 Sony Android TVs and never connected them to the internet in 5+ years. I use it just as you described, the Apple TV drives everything. No updates in 5 years and not a single issue.
