Sorry to hear that. I am going through the same too. (Its slightly different in my case. Not only me, but a few other senior colleagues are getting pushed out. It doesn't stop here. My manager is getting pushed out by the skip level. The skip level by his manger and it goes up several levels. Very strange situation to be in) It does hurt, particularly if one is a top performer. I have stopped caring about it now. I am trying to do the bare minimum and learn a few technologies. Eventually I want to start something on my own. I know it's easier said than done.

My advice is, don't worry about it. These days, it's quite common in the industry. Start looking for a job. It's always a good idea to search when you are employed. Drop the idea of starting your own company, unless you are in a position to live off your net worth. Wish you the best. You will do well.
