Northern China grows plenty of rice. Heilongjiang is currently China’s top rice producer (the southern provinces grow more in aggregate of course). https://www.statista.com/statistics/242360/production-of-ric... However the seats of power are more centered around Beijing in the south, where not much rice grows (though today you can find some rice farming in the area). |
