I remember Twitter in early days. Developers loved its REST APIs. They were already building integrations for custom dashboards, email, Yahoo chat, IRC and what not! Users could choose where they want to read the tweets using one of these integrations. They could read it on their terminal (xterm and such), on their favorite chat messenger or any other medium which had an integration. It was the early days of Web 2.0 and to have social interactions on the web which could be made available on any platform in any form was phenomenal. It is really sad to see such a geek-friendly place turn into a politically charged place full of trolling, spamming, witchhunts and nasty fighting! |
