I think that was a good write-up, and he made a pretty strong case. I don't drink alcohol myself and I share some of his feelings. Talking about alcohol seems to be a really nice way to start and keep up a conversation, I've noticed. Same applies to smoking and e.g. lighting someone else's cigarette, which is a type of sharing you don't get to do very often with people.
Leaning towards a mentality where everybody drinks alcohol by default, with the assumption that alcohol is an essential ingredient for having a good time, is unnecessary and unhealthy, and as he said, sometimes isolating experience to some. |
