I'm planning to move to Estonia to start a software product company so this is a very interesting discussion. I was already aware that Ireland and Hungary have lower corporate tax than Estonia but reading the comments I stopped to ponder why I'm not starting the company there instead. One reason is that I don't have to begin paying (much) tax in Estonia until I start taking money out of the company, which could be many years into the future. Another reason is cultural: I admit to not knowing all that much about Hungarian culture, but being from Northern Europe I think I will like it better in Estonia and fit in better. Ireland is just too far away. Also I'm not sure if Ireland being an English-speaking country is only a good thing. I prefer to keep a safe distance from the more toxic parts of Silicon Valley culture (just see what happened to Base Camp). |
