The automaker analogy is a better fit for the “practice” of not handling errors on the assumption a function can’t return an unexpected value. TDD is actually quite good at manufacturing methods to reasonable tolerance, which the Japanese did require. Higher level tests ensure the functional output is correct and typically don’t have built in any reliance on unit tests. |
