Ask HN: Proper Tab Management for Firefox?
1 points by StackXploit0day 1406 days ago
I've been using chrome always since it got released, but firefox consumes about 25% less battery.

I have optimized Chrome for max performance at the cost of power usage (using chrome://flags and command line switches). I don't feel like having multiple chrome configs. I'd like to give firefox a chance, maybe it has some benefits over chrome.

But wtf? Is there really no proper add-on for managing tabs and windows such as Session Buddy for chrome?

For example Tab Session Manager for firefox only shows previously closed sessions. Every other add-on I try is seriously lacking in basic functionality such rearranging, searching, and closing tabs/windows.

Importing and exporting, renaming sessions.

Tabby for example has only a tiny 800x600 pop up window. Manage 100+ tabs in that? pass. (I do lots of researching).

Can anyone save firefox?

Have you tried sidebery for ff?
I have now, thanks to you(r suggestion), but it doesn't show all the tabs/windows in one place. It only shows tabs of current window. Nor does it even show everything in a full new page. This add-on seems to be made only as a vertical tab bar as an alternative to the horizontal.

It has a quite impressive list of settings, but none of them enable the basic fundamental functionality I'm looking for.

I keep trying all the add-ons successively, although without success. I'd really appreciate a solution.
