He may sound arrogant, but he’s not wrong. I imagine the difference in standard deviations is a good metric for cognitive distance.
Mentally retarded people (-2) to ordinary people (0) are like normal people to gifted people (+2). And if hackerlight is more intelligent than that (3+), _smart_ people are dumb to him. Some studies show that mutual communication suffers on specific topics after about a standard deviation of difference. There are people too dumb for addition; why shouldn’t there be a lot of people too dumb to understand hackerlight’s point about computer science? |
