Missing a rather significant statement here: controversy and low sales because it gave people Lyme Disease that did not have it previously.

It most likely that it did not actually and in the current climate it is very likely that the new vaccine will meet the same fate.

At this point I will just be happy if the new vaccine makes it onto the market even briefly and I can personally get vaccinated for lyme before they stop producing it.

I'm pretty sure that's not true, the Lyme vaccine in question was protein subunit and had no replication competent bacteria in it. It's possible it could have caused some sort of immune disorder or autoimmune condition in some cases but not enough people took it to know for sure.
