I personally feel like daily standups are pretty important, contrary to what some people are commenting. Sure there are teams where they don't have any schedule meetings, but having that morning standup for 15-20 minutes each morning does a lot more than people think. I get to see what everyone else is currently working on and offer help if anyone says they have blockers. It works vice-versa as well, I sometimes run into issues and anyone on my team can pitch in, instead of me messaging individual people asking if they've seen that issue before. Even if all the above doesn't apply, I still get to talk and socialize with my entire team for 15 minutes, barely any productivity loss. Although I would have to agree with all the Agile/Scrum meetings comments here. I work at a very large insurance company and we have a dedicated Scrum Master. We have several meetings a week, each at least an hour with things like Retros, Backlog grooming, Planning, etc. These are the meetings that provide very little value while also taking a huge chunk out of my productivity.
