I wouldn't say so. Restricting the sale or transfer of personal data to a foreign-held company that can and will obey foreign laws with regards to that data is, I think, perfectly fair. The dances companies go through to appear local or non-local with shell companies is an abuse of the intent of many laws. Microsoft/Google/Amazon/etc. probably can figure out how to operate in Europe to comply with the intent of the law, but it might require a rather large actual separation of interests rather than a shallow apparent one. |
