This is silly.

The thing you need to concentrate on is how to make the company successful. Is it possible to convert your third of the company into massive amounts of cash? Doesn't sound like it, because the company is not a unicorn. You should be concentrating on getting the company (and therefore, your third of the company) to be worth as much as possible, and not worry about silly ego stuff.

Also, if this is really important to you - at my company, both the CTO and the VP of Engineering report to the CEO. It is not a given that VP report to CTO.
