For a bit I was using vimwiki. I really liked it, however, getting it to work with images was a huge pain in the butt. So lately I have been using Obsidian. It allows me to use vim mode, paste images, and also write notes in md format. Check it out at https://obsidian.md/ |

The key for me was Daily notes (see Periodic Notes plugin) + Tasks. It allows me to write freely while using todo-like bullet lists to remember the upcoming tasks.
I'm planning for more extensive use but one step at a time...
