Have they actually failed? Or are they headed for failure if they can't get things straightened out?

My biggest issue with them is the low quality of so many articles. They have little to no "meat on the bones".

Relatedly, I really don't understand why they never added syntax highlighting for block quotes so developers would feel more comfortable using their platform. Seems like a big missed opportunity.

I will say, most of the articles I read that would have been on Medium 2 or 3 years ago, are now all on substack.
