If I were Apple, I'd sell an open developer phone that allowed users to override the default settings. So that when the inevitable "Apple has been hacked and is no better than Android" media driven hit pieces come out, Apple can point out that this is happening on the open developer phone, not the safe walled garden that most of us normal, non bleeding edge consumers carry in our pockets..

When you just want to use your phone, you don't have to read a 1000-word piece to figure out it's because some man installed some obvious spyware.

Apple has been hacked and is no better than Android.
Linux has been hacked and is no better when Windows?
OP made an unsubstantiated claim that Apple products are more secure. I pointed that out.
They are. You may be seeing more exploits in general because there is monetary incentive to find them, but iPhone is more secure in general especially when it comes to malware. They also have 5 or more years of support for devices and historically patched very old versions for security issues. Unlike android where 10% of the users are on the latest update, if the carrier even supplies it!
And it is. iPhones have fewer exploits, and (in general) provide longer support with updates fixing them when they occur.
