Most states and counties I’ve lived in in the southeast US either exempt or minimize property taxes on residents that are over 65. In fact, my current area (Cobb county, GA) nimbys keep trying to block assisted living residences. The argument is that old people move in, don’t pay into local funds, but the burden is hoisted on other younger families instead. |
