The political coordinate plane is an interesting one, because it's often presented in an implied context of "what would I choose as my government, were I to decide its nature and orientation," which is a strangely liberal mindset about politics. The idea that choices are made, and not that circumstance and history create in political culture.

Is it possible for a political axis to exist with sufficient dimensions to accurately represent the qualia of a historical political movement? Or is all of this fact-based description of something that has a larger existence?

It might be possible to create a representation of 5 dimensional grid which can model a specific political moment. It may also be desire-able too.
In what context? I think the quantization of politics is ultimately to its detriment, at least as far as theory goes. The spatial relationships and affinities between political systems seem to confuse the matter almost. I struggle to think of what the purpose of a more complex set of coordinates supplies us with true or useful knowledge about a political system.
Primarily a commercial context, think about how much click money that a 5 dimensional political compass could make. We're talking maybe hundreds of billions of Vietnamese dong here!
